The Press and Information Office of the Permanent Representation
of Italy to the European Union is at the core of information and
institutional communication on the activity of the Italian Government
on Community matters. Based on the Permanent Representative’s
indications – and in close collaboration with the other
sectors of the Representation competent for the various files,
and with the Press Offices of the Italian Administrations most
directly involved in Community matters – it carries out
a constant activity of illustration of Italian positions on various
matters dealt with by the European Union.
Thus, the Press Office of the Representation handles relations
with the Italian and foreign media accredited at Community Institutions.
In Brussels there are 60 accredited Italian correspondents, representing
most of the Italian media (see (http://www.italiaue.it/pagine/index_media.asp),and
about 1200 correspondents from major world media.
Among the Office’s activities there is the organization
of briefings and press conferences of Italian Ministers engaged
in the various Councils, as well as of the Permanent Representative.
The Press Office also prepares and divulges press releases on
matters of priority interest to the Italian and international
media.
The Press Office handles information on the activities of the
Italian Government and of the Representation through the coordination
and the keeping up to date of the contents of this web site, with
the objective of providing a continuous stream of information
on the activities of major emphasis regarding the European Union
and Italy in Brussels.
